NightStar is first and foremost about bringing families together in order to improve the learning of science and math by young people. Your time is the most valuable resource that you can contribute. Collaborate with us and we better the lives of all of our children. Donate your time by teaching a science or math course to a small group of kids, sponsor children building science projects, or contribute financially to NightStar. We need all three to make this endeavor successful.

You can make a financial contribution to NightStar Education in many different forms, depending on your family situation. Contributions by check can be mailed directly to us. As a 503(c)(3) non-profit, donations are tax deductible to the extent provided by current IRS tax laws and regulations; meaning your earnings will specifically support the education of your children.

Some people prefer to contribute in the form of appreciated securities. Such a method has benefits to you and NightStar:

1. •You avoid Capital Gains tax on the appreciated value; if you have owned the securities for more than 12 months, you may claim a tax deduction for the current market value, rather than the purchase price, when you itemize deductions on your tax returns.
   

      

1. •NightStar can decide to sell the securities immediately to benefit current programs or hold the securities in Trust for future programs or endowments.
   

We can also accept IRA transfers, which for the current tax year can be made up to the amount of $100,000 with no tax penalties or capital gains taxes.

Please inform us you have made a gift of securities so that we can acknowledge your gift properly and send you the proper tax information. Your gift will be valued at the price for the stock on the day that we receive it electronically.
